Mitten in der der mongolischen Steppe wächst der elfjährige Amra in einer traditionellen Nomadengemeinschaft auf. Morgens wird er von seinem Vater in die Schule gefahren, abends hilft er, die Herde mit den Schafen und Ziegen zur Jurte zu treiben. Mit seinen gleich- altrigen Freunden schaut er YouTube-Videos und träumt davon, bei Mongolia’s Got Talent aufzutreten. Daheim treffen sich die Erwach- senen, um über die Zukunft der Gemeinschaft zu beraten. Auf der Suche nach Gold bedrohen globale Bergbaukonzerne die Lebens- grundlage in der Steppe. Der unerwartete Tod des Vaters lässt Amras Träume den Ansprüchen der Realität weichen. Mit aller Macht und weit über seine Kräfte hinaus nimmt der Junge sich vor, dem Ver- mächtnis seines Vaters gerecht zu werden.

Eleven-year-old Amra is a child of the Mongolian steppe, where he lives in a traditional nomad community. His father drives him to school in the morning, and in the evening the boy helps to round up the family’s sheep and goats. Amra watches YouTube clips with his friends and dreams of making an appearance on Mongolia’s Got Talent. At home, the grown-ups convene to discuss the group’s future. Global mining companies and their hunger for gold represent an imminent threat to the herders’ way of life. When his father falls victim to a fatal accident, the challenges of harsh reality force Amra to abandon his childhood fantasies. Summoning all the strength he can muster and pushing beyond his limits, the boy sets out to honour his father’s legacy.

Foreign investors have transformed one fifth of Mongolia to mining areas. Nature is being destroyed, the daily life of local people is affected. Byambasuren Davaa, known for „The story of a weeping camel“, takes her new feature film „Veins of the World“ to this year's Berlinale Generation, in which she portraits a nomad family, living in a region that is about to become mining area. The wind phone as an emotional escape

After Yuki & Nina in the 2009 Kplus programme, Nobuhiro Suwa returns to the Generation programme with another film. His new film Kaze No Denwa is in the 14+ programme.
